Go Class

Having developed in China between 3,000 and 4,000 years ago, Go (called Wei Qi in Chinese) contends with backgammon for the right to be called the oldest game still played in its original form.

More than 25 million people currently play Go, most of them in the Far East. Europe may have as many as 100,000 players; the United States perhaps 20,000.

Our Go class was originally started by the famous world champion Jiang Zhu Jiu (9 Duan). Due to his absence of playing go in Korea, the class is now taught by his elder brother, Jiang Ming Jiu (7 Duan), who is also a renowned player in China. He was one of the major players of the national team in 1975-1983. In 1978-1982, he attended a tournament between China and Japan with a prestigious go team. In 1983, he graduated from a university with a physical education degree. From 1986 on, he has taught many students whom have done very well in national competitions.
